Cutty Sark Naive Antique Oil on Canvas

A wonderful naive antique oil on canvas of the Cutty Sark signed and dated 1928. A ship built for speed for the tea trade but sadly soon become not needed due to the opening of the Suez canal leaving steamships to import tea quicker through the canal. Details of the cliffs of dover and steamships in the background of the painting. Large in size in is original frame, the frame has some damage to the gilt and gesso and a crack. Based in Falmouth in the 1920s this painting could of likely orignated there.

A rare find... A 19th Century Welsh dairy table made entirely from Sycamore dating 1830-1850. Originally from a farmhouse in mid Wales having a pale butter patina. Syacmore was used frequently in dairy utensils and table tops due to its food safe properties. Lovely large and deep drawers offering good storage for the kitchen. The top has a large overhang making it good to sit at and also a perfect kitchen island.

A very rare piece of Welsh folk art, an early 19th Century thread winder circa 1800-1820. Fantastic wear and patination with seven concentric circles all with holes to run thread through. The middle circle notably being used the most with greater wear with the same carvings to both sides.

Llanelly Pottery "Puritan" Hand Painted Antique Plate

A Llanelly Pottery plate of a Puritan hand painted by Samuel Shufflebotham circa 1910. The Famous Llanelly pottery in South Wales had "some interesting names hand painting but none more interesting than the artist Mr Shufflebotham. He was known to pruduce the finest of the hand painted work." This particular plate is very comical with the phase "ir is never to late to be taught". A very rare plate and was part of Gwyneth and Ieuan R. Evans Collection. Please inspect photos for condition, one noted dimple of imperfection the glaze to the front.

A 19th Century West Country Farmhouse table with the most incredible well figured Ash top circa 1850-1870. Oak sides with beech legs and pine drawer. Wonderful pale dry finish which is untouched with no wax added with a lovely buttery and smooth top. Sourced from an estate in Somerset where it was most likely made. Lovely thick two piece Ash top really sets this above the rest. The sides taper in height for legs space but still offers good height for the legs.

18th Century Welsh Sycamore and Ash Primitive Cricket Table Antique

An 18th century Welsh primitive cricket table circa 1760-1780. Beautifully worn retaining its original patination throughout. Made from sycamore and ash legs with t-stretcher, a later19th century addition to the height where the legs have been raised using primitive cuts of oak. The sycamore has a buttery smooth finish and was used frequently on dairy farms due to its natural antibacterial properties in food prep. The legs are solid but have some slight movement from the height alteration, we have left this be as we see this as part of its history but its original mortise holes are present on the sycamore.

An 18th century English primitive cricket table circa 1730-1750 with a substantial cheese top made from Elm. The table has fantastic colour and wear with a very thick top. Some interesting stamps to the top, possibly a previous owners initials. There is a historic repair to the top made from oak with evidence on the legs that a stetcher or second tier existed in its life. The legs are all original and the table is very solid with no movement.

The seat is close to being 3 inches thick to the rear with a wonderful crusty finish that you would expect being close to the fire. All the legs are very solid and this is a large example with plenty of space to sit at. Fresh to the market.

The Primitve back legs and turned front have lost some height over the years but still offer a good sit. These were generally low fire side chairs to keep one’s self out of the smoke. Welsh 18th Century Sycamore & Oak Dairy Table Antique

A late 18th century Welsh oak and sycamore topped dairy table. Sycamore was widely used for tops of tables due to its natural antibacterial properties making it ideal for food prep. The table is in farmhouse conditon and has that bleached look from years in a barn. Plenty of charming old repairs to the syamore top with the legs also having been tipped. Its had historic worm over the years but all has been treated and solid. Its an honest piece with everthing on show from a hard life but incredibly charming. A big deep single drawer offering good storage that opens smoothly.

Shipbuilders Half Block Model Sailing Cargo Vessel Antique

A fine shipbuilders half block model of the sailing cargo vessel "Star of the Sea" built by Richardson and Duck in 1877. It appears David Evans the first commander only lasted a year untill 1878, so likely that the model is 1877-78 in date. The finely detailed model is mounted upon a polished piece of mahogany with hand sign written lettering. The Richardson and Duck yard opened in 1852 as south Stockton Iron Shipbuilding co. and produced the first iron ship. The Star of the Sea no. 76481 was an iron hulled ship with one bulkhead forward. Its first trip was to Sydney arriving 8th August 1877 after an 85 day voyage. The model comes with plenty of paperwork it has collected over the years with dated letters from the National Maritime Museum and Cleveland County Libraries in 1975. There is one repair to the veneer on the hulls platform.

An 18th century Thames valley windsor chair made from Elm and Ash circa 1770-1790. This is one of the nicest hoop back chairs we have found.. Its original crusty paint of green and black have a wonderful patina. Lots of wear and history to the chair with a inlaid patch to the seat that you find in welsh furniture marking the death of a family member. The hoop slightly slants backwards making it very pleasant to sit at. The legs are primitive and united by a crinoline stetcher.

A 19th century Welsh two tier cricket table with a sycamore top and pine base. Wonderful colour to the sycamore having a smooth buttery appearance. There is evidence of old worm to the thick top but has been treated and everthing is very solid. The pine base has a good subtle wear and overall in farmhouse condition. Sycamore was widely used in food prep for its natural antibacterial properties so this table could have been used on a dairy farm. Getting hard to find now...

An 19th Century primitive elm settle circa 1800 -1820 from Dorset. Made entirely from Elm and has a wonderful patination and wear throughout. An unsual primitive shaped settle with a box seat for storage. Most likely from a farmhouse or tavern placed near the fire hearth.

18th Century West Country Primitive Windsor "Comb Back" Antique Chair

A fine 18th century primitve west country comb back windsor chair. Constructed from Elm and Ash and has a real primitive feel in places. Traces of original Blue paint with a well patinated overall appearance. A chair documented in "The English Regional Chair by Bernard D. Cotton Fig SW33" as west country and dating around 1770. The chair is extrememly cofortable, probably the comfiest we have had. The comb is tall and supports the head, its proportions are large and offer space but leaving you snug. The sticks are contorted on the comb and offer a sculptural appearance. The thick elm seat is twisted over time equally adding to this but very solid. Its a wonderfall chair.

19th Century Welsh Lipwork Antique Chair

A 19th Century Welsh Lipwork Chair 1860-1880. A very rare survivor and a wonderful piece of welsh folk art. Constructed of straw and bound by bramble. The bramble was collected in Autumn when it was ripe. This example to my undertstanding has a bramble branch bound round the mid section to offer greater support. These have an interesting history; skilled craftmans from the village who were making bee skeps made an occasional chair to make further money. These were generally kept near the fire hearth offering good protection from draughts and keeping you snug and warm. Low to sit at for the smoke filled room where also why these were a low sit. The internal of the chair has has old packaging crates used as a later addition to offer further support. More photos can be requested we have lots so please get in touch. There are various historic repairs of hessian to the base. In genereal a very good example and very solid. We have had the pleasure to aquire 2 of these, no provenance unfortunately. Most likely from an estate.

A wonderful Welsh 18th century oak Coffor Bach in excellent orignal condition. Good small proportions, the colour of the oak is deep with rich tones in places. The handles are true to the piece as is the escutcheon. The lid is detachable with wooden hinges with the box having three raised and fielded panels. The single drawer is all original and opens well.

19th Century "West Cornwall" Stick Chair Hoop Windsor

Early 19th Century West Cornwall hoop back windsor chair. A sycamore seat with ash and beech turned sticks. The spindles have contorted over time creating a wonderful scupltural shape. This is a very comfy chair with the larger hoop giving good support and comfort a comb back would offer to the head and neck. The arms are splayed outwards giving you room whilst you sit. Theres a red early paint with a later deep shade of Aubergine. Its worn in the right places with a crusty dry finish with a crackled paint. Theres old worm found in places but everthing is solid and has been treated.

West Country 18th Century Primitive Curved Elm Settle

This is a very special piece... An early 18th Century west Country settle made entirely from Elm. The back board is curved with carved detailing to the rail. Its an incredible wide board that is well figured. The arms both are bent outwards with the elm contorting. The seat is panelled with two opening boards revealing an inner storage with one being lockable in its history. Wonderful colour and wear throughout with some traces of its original finish. There is one historical repair to the right hand side end.

Originally from the small south Devon town of Yealmpton. Early 19th century, constructed from fruitwood and ash with primitve carved legs. The seat looks to be pear or apple with a wonderful pale patina. The legs are interesting being primitve and made from ash. The chair is a low fire side chair adult in size but low for working on.

Lovely wear and colour to this Georgian painted pine trunk sourced from a estate in the welsh borders. Early 19th century and used for some time to keep tack equipment in a stables. Very worn in places but all solid.

Unusual Welsh 18th Century Teak & Ash 3 Legged Antique Stool Folk Art

Sourced from West Wales a very unusual three legged stool made from Teak and Ash. Dates back to the 18th Century. Most likely a blacksmith stool or maybe a fisherman picked up some teak from shipwreck then made a good tall stool for mending his nets? West Wales was a known destination for the import of exotic woods in the 18th century. The teak has split in its life with a blacksmith repair to the underside. Lots of colour and patination to the stool with good wear. Its absoutley solid.

Primitive 19th Century Antique Trio Shorebird Working Decoys Folk Art

Beautiful trio of English 19th century shorebird working decoys. Primitve examples in original condition, years of weathering has left a beautiful bleached finish on the oak. Their beaks are made from cast iron nails and all mounted on a bespoke base. One looks to have had a head replacement in its time.

Welsh 18th Well Figured Elm Low Boy Antique Table

A 18th Century well figured Elm Low Boy from South Wales. Its got a wonderful flick to the top at the front where the elm has warped beautifully. The colour is particularly pleasing. The front face of the table and drawers have been made out of a single piece of elm with the grain matching.

19th Century Welsh Borders Sycamore & Pine Dairy Table

A wonderful Welsh borders Sycamore top dairy table dating back to the mid 19th Century. A Pine base with good colour and wear with two large drawers. The sycamore top has aged beautifully having that pale bleached finish. Theres a wonderful apotropaic marking to the top which we have not seen before.
