A fine 18th century primitve west country comb back windsor chair. Constructed from Elm and Ash and has a real primitive feel in places. Traces of original Blue paint with a well patinated overall appearance. A chair documented in "The English Regional Chair by Bernard D. Cotton Fig SW33" as west country and dating around 1770. The chair is extrememly cofortable, probably the comfiest we have had. The comb is tall and supports the head, its proportions are large and offer space but leaving you snug. The sticks are contorted on the comb and offer a sculptural appearance. The thick elm seat is twisted over time equally adding to this but very solid. Its a wonderfall chair.
